Long Time No See

Yowza! My how time flies when you're having fun! I wish I could hit "pause" sometimes...like when I buy my son shoes and they are equivalent to my size. Or when my baby girl now has to have clothes that aren't in the baby section. These are the times I would like a "pause" button.  I have been busy with a new obsession (couponing) that has been consuming a lot of my time.  I have actually been able to teach a workshop that teaches others how to do it too! Lots of fun!  I have been able to squeeze some crafting in too...my new favorite thing to make are my "Happy Days" Plaques. Kind of a neat spin on Subway art that I found on my friend's website www.alterediris.com. These have gone over quite well actually and I have sold quite a few. They make a fun and unique Christmas, wedding, or anniversary gift.  Here are a few pics...

Sorry it's been so long...going to try to get better at this! Have a great weekend!

It's been awhile....

May 26th was my last post...yikes! How does time go by so quickly? My son is on summer break, and admittedly...so is Mom.  I do have a few new things to share though. A diaper cake I made for a baby shower and a new decoration for the pink/black bathroom for my sister. I hadn't done anything "crafty" in so long, and then made a picture frame to commemorate a birthday tea party for my nieces. As I was burning my finger with hot glue I realized how long it had been and how badly I had missed it.

Diaper cake I made for Ms. Evelyn Nelson

Fun headband holder for the bathroom I love so much!

So I can't have a pink/black bathroom, but I can have a fun brush holder....right?!

I have a new project I am thinking of starting in the next week or so....I will keep you posted. My son is spending the week with the grandparents...so I will need something to keep me busy while I miss him!

Vinyl Anyone?

This is my first stab at cutting vinyl on my new Cricut machine...and I must say I was pretty excited with the results! It was so much fun to make that I had a hard time holding myself back from putting lettering up everywhere.  If I don't contain myself, you will be reading a book when you enter my home. Any thoughts on what my next "saying" should be?

Have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Teacher Appreciation

What a wonderful week to celebrate! Teachers! Everyone has their favorites, and I was fortunate enough to have had many wonderful teachers at good ol' Ray-Pec! My son has enjoyed bringing his teacher her favorite treats this week...and when I suggested making her a plaque he was very excited. He had a great time picking out the colors and the arrangement on the plaque. He made my day by saying "It's so cool that you craft Mom". Melted my heart! A big thanks to all the wonderful teachers out there who dedicate their lives to enriching our children's lives...you are true angels.

Who doesn't love Sassy?

I had a little creative spark yesterday, while preparing a couple of headband holders. I had this leftover zebra print and thought I could come up with something....so here it is! I used my sister Amber as inspiration for this...sassy and cute! What a fun way to add some sass to her day!!! So much fun to make! I will definitely have to make some more! So many different ways to decorate them!
Happy Easter to everyone!!!

A girl's first love...

So, as I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I am insanely jealous of the pink and black bathroom my sister is doing for her four girls. It is going to look amazing!  I am happy to share with you a little sign I made for them.
After all, Daddy really is every girl's first love.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Holy Happy Birthday Batman!

Wanted to post a picture of a fun little project I did for my favorite little super hero lover! My friend's little boy Devon celebrated his 5th birthday over the weekend and I had a last minute idea to make this for him. I was really, really happy with the way it turned out. Plus, I got to stay up late and watch "Glee" in-between coats of paint! Bonus! Stephanie tells me that he was really excited when he opened it and wanted to hang it on his door right away....that makes me SO HAPPY! Happy Birthday Devon!

Do we have a "Jacob" in the house?

I have "Jacob" for sale for a great price! Is there a Jacob in your life? This would normally be $50, but I am selling it for $30.  Email or Facebook me if you are interested!

Catching Up...

Here's what I've been working on since the Open House...

I am really happy with the way this turned out. This idea came to me from my dear friend Miss Stephanie. She was looking for something unique and personalized to give to her niece for her birthday. We combined her niece's love for ballet and headbands to create this cute little thing! It was really fun to make and I really hope she enjoys it! (For the picture, I added a couple of headbands in the middle)

Next, I have expanded the hair bow holders. My sister is redecorating her girls' bathroom in black and pink (so jealous). With two 3-year old twins and another set of twin girls on the way, she is going to have lots of hair bows and headbands! So in keeping with the black and pink theme, I made these for her.
I must say, I really love the painted letters as opposed to just the white that I started off with. I love evolving these ideas!  I am also making an adorable sign paying homage to the most important man in their life (Daddy) for their girly bathroom.  Will post pics of that later....

Open House!

I am excited to announce I am participating in an open house! This will be the debut of "Mae Mae Creations" to anyone I don't know directly, so I'm really nervous and really excited!  I would love to see you there if you want to stop by and say "hello"! I will be working really hard in the next 2 weeks, trying to rack my brain for ideas on how to present some of my things.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

New Cards and New Plaques

I can't explain it, but from the first time I had a "real" job and got my first business cards printed with my name on them, it just made me feel...nice. I don't know what it is about it...I know it sounds silly, but I love them. Well, I've never had much say so in how the business cards looked....until now! So here they are! Aren't they cute?
Here is what I've been up to this week. I got to thinking I needed something that isn't so specific...not all people know names for showers. So I strayed from the personalization a bit this week and went with something everyone could enjoy.  I adore the phrase "baby love". I saw it on plates for a baby shower and thought it was so fitting! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Cold temps = Craft table

So what do I do when it is freezing outside and the children are happily watching a movie? I found these "picture frame" type wooden plaques and thought they would make cute door hangers. I am really happy with the way these turned out. This is my first "boy" plaque, so it was really fun working with the bright colors. I really liked the way the lime green cord spruces up the plaque. The "d" and "e" were inspired by my favorite red heads, the Hansen boys. They are always fun and full of energy, which is why I went with the bright colors.
Meanwhile, I had a lot of fun with the whimsical letters too...while I am not a huge pink kinda girl, I really like the hot pink with the black. I thought the paper design behind the letter made it classy and fun. This was inspired by my favorite, freckle-less identical twin, Olivia.

Thankful Friday

Who doesn't love Friday? I know I sure do! Today, however, I am loving Friday even more! I am so very thankful today. Thankful to my sister Amber and my neighbor Nicole for placing my first orders with Mae Mae Creations! This is something I started because I truly love creating, I never in my wildest dreams thought others would enjoy...but I am so very thankful today that Amber and Nicole will soon be enjoying! Thank you ladies! I am also very thankful to Jaimee. When I logged onto my blog this afternoon, she is my first follower! Thank you Jaimee, for letting me know people are actually reading! Big hugs to you ladies!!! Have a wonderful weekend all!!!

Holy Hair!

So I met a great lady Monday morning. Her name is Suzie Stadler and she has the cutest hair bows! She has lots of great hats, clips, bows, tutu skirts...pretty much anything you can think of. She also showed me how to layer puffs and flowers and bows (oh my!). After picking up several pretty little things, I realized I didn't have any good way of storing them. Enter hair clip holder! I have seen things like this before but have never attempted to create. I have to admit I am really happy with the way this one turned out! For all of you with pretty little girls in your life, definitely look Suzie up! You can find her here on Facebook!

Twins...again!

Welcome to "Mae Mae Creations"!  I love to create customized decor, especially for babies/kids rooms. With much encouragement from my sister Amber, I have decided to go public.  My first post highlights my activities over the weekend. I threw a baby "sprinkle" for my lovely sister Kayla who is expecting twins....AGAIN! If anyone is capable of handling all this, it is definitely her!

I am new to blogging, so please be patient with me.  More good things are to come!
